Our Lady of Sorrows — A Reflection of Love and Sacrifice
“Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also.” — Luke 2:35 (KJV)
These words, spoken by Simeon to Mary, express the sorrow she would bear as the mother of Jesus. This hand-carved olive wood figure from the Holy Land brings together Mary’s maternal love and Christ carrying the cross, offering a moving reminder of sacrifice, compassion, and steadfast faith.
Mary’s contemplative expression and flowing robes frame the smaller figure of Jesus beneath the cross. The sculpted details and warm natural wood grain invite quiet reflection in a prayer corner or devotional display.
